Piccole Stelle (Little Stars)

The little stars in the previous blog brought to mind a funny little tale that still makes me smile :)

One afternoong a few friends and I were talking and laughing over coffee. Suddenly, all our cell phones went off simultaneously with a text message. One girl read the message outloud saying "Aw! how sweet! Lidia says "Una Piccola Stella Per Te, Ti Voglio Tanto Bene!". Which means "a little star for you, I love you so much!". To top it off, the text message ended with a shooting star. We smiled and continued our conversation.

Not long after Lidia walks in and my friend welcomes her with open arms beaming a bright smile "Lidia, we love you too!". Confused, Lidia asked what was going on, and she said "your message!". Ahm, what message?.

Turns out, Lidia stored the message in her cell but forgot to lock they keys and as she was walking happily through a Tuscan historic center, her purse kept bouncing to her steps and it unilaterally decided to email THAT text message to EVERYONE in her contact list! (How that happened, still amazes me!).

She is a sweet but very serious girl; a Bank-economics grad student and suddenly bank managers, professors, friends (male and female) received a love text message on their cell phones! We assumed the text message was sent alphabetically since it stopped at the letter T when her balance ran out, though about 40 lucky people got the note!

Lidia was mortified! Soon after, the calls began to roll in from jealous girlfriends, wives and confused co-workers. My friends and I sat there in awe trying to be supportive as she paced back and forth hands up in the air, trying to explain herself and venting in Italian things I cannot say. She had to apologize one by one to her professors... hehe...

Thanks to her I ALWAYS get phones that flip open to prevent a situation such as this :)

Here is a video of a song that was a hit at that time, and it's also called "Piccola Stella Senza Cielo" (Little star without a sky). Video filmed in a floating Venice with a little boy leaving pebbles to a little girl as she runs through Venice :)

Enjoy :)

Yes, I remember when the video first came out the boy's hairstyle would make me smile, but arriving to Tuscany it's in fact how most of the guys had their hair!!

Yes, with a "sinking" Venice, if only a floating Venice were real!..

Infatti, che ricordi! Though I wonder if there is also the same video with a "softer" version lurking around somewhere, since this version seems more "rock" than the one I have at home!

Hmmm....
