Be Careful What You Wish For!

I wiggle a few sleepy toes as my arms stretch out tumbling a silent alarm clock to the floor. I glance at a half lit window as the drapes take slow breaths in and out; it’s dark still, what time is it? It’s almost 4 already, but I’m not sleepy.

After washing my face and making my bed, I find myself in a coffee scented quiet kitchen leaning over a busy stove with my favorite mug on one hand, and a spatula on the other.

Soon, my laptop is awake as well. The coffee mug accompanies me to a desk where I find dozens of interesting little things to read. No, I resist temptation and write an e-mail requesting to be placed on-call. Send. Done. Reply. I’m on-call. I lean back and close my eyes, wishing for the morning off to read to my heart’s content.

I glance at a few blogs while I can, and before I know it time passes by… no calls, no work. Something isn’t right.

A few still-quiet hours later a manager writes to apologize. There has been a bizarre error and I should have helped 30 patients today, but the system failed to log me on. Tomorrow I’ll be on-call as early as I wish. Tomorrow as I wish? Yes, as I wish.

Suddenly, I realize that today my wish had come true as well and I cringe with guilt. I have the day off to run after my nephew and read to my heart’s content, but I’m not happy!

Inside our mind the world is as we shape it, and we better be careful what we wish for, because it may very well come true!

And sometimes the universe gives us exactly what we need on a given day :)

Yes Sognatrice, you're right!

On my free day I became nostalgic for my old translation contracts that paid in Euros!

I'm going to open those up again... this thing about earning dollars and spending euros worries me!

What ever happened to the dollar?

Just another little sign and gentle reminder that all your wishes will come true.

Grazie a tutte!!

Your carefree optimistic mentality brought me back from worrying about this dollar devaluation thing... so I'll save a lot and manage to live in a frugal manner!

Planning can be a little bit of a roller-coaster sometimes, but I'll press on ahead! :)

Yes, the universe gives us what we need alright!

:)

Ciaosito e grazie di nuovo :)

in restrospect i usually find that when something didn't work the way i had hoped, there was a clear & definite need for the alternative to happen.

it is good to sit quietly each day & carefully consider what lies before us (call it prayer, meditation, whatever)...when we thoughtfully think in quiet it is so fruitful.
