As I typed the previous post, powerful Hurricane Dean is about to slam into fragile Mayan villages. Lately, I read a lot of Spanish news to maitain one of my main languages. One story I read was about the Piramids of Chichén Itzá which was recently nominated as one of the New Seven Wonders of the world.
I was stunned to hear that a family owns the pyramids! Yes, the Barbachano family bought the pyramids from foreigners to return heritage patromony to native hands and have allowed free access to the pyramids.
Yet, I was more stunned to hear that the government is offering only 750,000 dollars for one of the New Seven Wonders! Ofcourse, any house in the Bay Area is worth more than that! The family has agreed to return the pyramids to the country, and only wants proper compensation. Instead, the government will expropriate the pyramids. Hmmm….

You are part of the culture I like the most mexican and italian , Le falta la cultura francesa . nunca habia oido de este historia de las piramides que partenecen a una familia . yo pensaba que ere desde anos propiedad del gobierno . estoy escuchando tambien las nuevas y que el viento en Tulum va a ser mucho mas fuerte que en otras partes . Bueno espiero que todo va a salir mas o menos bien.

Mais je n'ai pas encore eu l'opportunité d'étudier en France, donc, creo que desafortunadamente he perdido mucho de ese hermoso idioma… por lo menos a pesar de los años, aún no he perdido las bases del francés, y solo es cuestión de practicarlo :)

I just watched a special on Mayan culture a few days ago, but it didn't mention the Kulkulcan Equinox. How cool! I have to visit the news sites yet to check up on what, if anything, happened overnight....
:) Languages aaaare wonderful! Probably my excuse to put science books aside and pack my luggages :) Oooops...
The first time I saw images of the "snake crawling down the pyramid" I said "where is it?" then I saw that infact, the straight line on one side of the pyramid slowly curves like a snake :)
I'm glad that the Category 5 went down to Category 1 when it hit land, I hope the Mayan villages are okay...
