Reach!

Hope turned to excitement to an ooooh, boy! What did I get myself into?

Yes, I won the bid to translate a
26 page medical document for a pharmaceutical product that is being introduced in to the US market. A blessing? I questioned it when, at first glance, the tight deadline made a challenging task very intimidating! It took a while, but I finally forced myself to work on it ...and to my surprise, everything flowed smoothly and I actually enjoyed the file!

I was reminded, once again, that things are never as bad as they seem. We just need to take that first step and get down to it! I met the deadline, and it was actually delightful! Others might not like it, but I love deep heavy stuff that make my brain twist.

Tipsy Pastries!

Meanwhile, here is an old family recipe. Monday was my sister's birthday, and she wanted us to bake cookies again, so we did. Mom brought out her recipe notebook that has been handed down my family. It's half burned from an old kitchen fire, but it survived.

My favorite pastry is very simple and I always find elegance in simplicity!

I call it Tipsy Pastry because besides flour, the other ingredient is... beer!

  • 500 gm Flour
  • 125 gm Vegetable Shortening
  • 125 gm Lard (or more veg. shortening)
  • 1/2 BEER
Make a dough and roll flat.

Fill with fruit or jam to make a mini-pie.

Pinch the edges or us this tool!

Bake for 25 minutes.

Coat with sugar and cinnamon.

Mine are always filled with Quince jam! Beer+Quince Jam=Intense Flavor!

Che bello!..a Christmas style blog complete with photos from the North Pole.
26 pages! My problem is I would tend to shorten my translations. I would say "This drug really works". Good thing there are people like you to take care of this the right way.

LOVE the xmas look! Busy, busy, busy you are, and you always make it look so easy. C'mon do the insect zodiac linked at my site and tell us what bug you are!!! I wouldn't be surprised if your were a bee but you seem more of a butterfly. :-)

Wow, I am really intrigued by that recipe and think I will definitely have to try it. I love quince jam, though I doubt I'll be able to find it here. I'll have to make a substitution. I'll have to experiment with LOTS of flavors to find the right one. No problem, I love sweets!

Ciao Eryn,
You were born in Norway? It's an amazing country, definitely. The months I spent there are the most memorable for me, that's for sure.

That will be quite a task! Quince jam is so unique and intense. If you find anything let me know! I had this one imported.
